Contract Scope:
The existing ground floor laboratories and adjacent office facilities were in use for the duration of the contract, meaning that extremely close coordination of construction activities was essential to prevent any disruption to the Clients ongoing operations.
Project Details
This project is the first phase of an ongoing refurbishment programme which also encompasses a much larger project to fit out the ground floor fallow areas as cleanrooms, laboratories and packaging accommodation. BES undertook the role of Designer and Principal Contractor under CDM and this particular phase, worth approximately £1.3million, was completed within 24 weeks.
Scope of Work
Boulting Environmental Services worked closely with the client through the scoping stage, developing the URS together with detailed facility layouts. The team were responsible for design and installation of all mechanical, electrical and HVAC services together with the architectural fit.
As far as practicable, existing air handling plant was re-used, and supplemented as necessary. Fully detailed surveys were carried out to establish existing plant capacities, and the information used as a basis for the HVAC design. All ductwork distribution systems were renewed to suit the new facility layouts and associated air distribution.
Other services provided include safety cabinet extract systems, chilled water, LPHW, laboratory gases, domestic services, power, data, fire alarms & lighting.
