Flexi-Lab
The Boulting Group is experienced in the design, build, testing, installation and commissioning of flexi-lab specialist environments.
The principle of the flexi-lab is to allow the laboratory workspace to be re-configured in a flexible way whenever required, with a minimum of disruption and cost, so as to respond to the changing demands placed upon it.
The main features of a flexi-lab
- Freeform, open-plan vinyl-sealed laboratory floor area
- Re-locatable glass wall system between the laboratory and write-up areas
- Modular and independently moveable laboratory benching
- Mobile under-bench storage units
- Full services infrastructure located within the ceiling area
- Flexible services delivery to the point of use, from moveable ceiling pods to bench-mounted masts
- Fume cupboards, pods and masts simply connect to services and infrastructure via flexible hose connections and flying electrical leads.
The main benefits of a flexi-lab
- Quicker overall project design and implementation
- Large open-plan laboratories ensure that the science is not constrained by traditional rigid walls and fixed furniture configurations and outlook
- The laboratory layout can easily be changed at the minimum cost, allowing scientists to take control of their own environment
- Greater scientific output from less space permits greater scientific interaction and improved effectiveness
- Flexi-lab concepts support sustainable construction principles
