Boulting Group to Upgrade the PLC Control System at Malaysian Manufacturing Facility

25/5/2012

Boulting Group, the multi-disciplined engineering solutions provider, has been commissioned by Enerflex to upgrade the PLC Control System at British American Tobacco's Kuala Lumpur facility.  The control system will automate new impregnators required for a process similar to freeze drying coffee.

Enerflex is an international company delivering field production facilities, compression and natural gas processing plants, CO2 processing plants, refrigeration systems and power generators.

The process which Boulting Group are involved with freezes tobacco and then expands it by heating - a process similar to freeze dried coffee.

The project requires replacement impregnators and the associated automation and safety systems.

Boulting Group will replace the existing PLC processor with a safety PLC CPU, at the same time providing distributed safety I/O. The PLC software is to be modified to reflect these changes.

The existing InTouch SCADA is also being updated at the same time.

Site commissioning is due to start October 2012.
