Getting into the swing of things at this year's Golf Tournament
31/7/2012
Boasting stunning views over both the Lancashire Plain and the Welsh Hills, the 132 acre Houghwood course proved a perfect location, with suppliers and clients starting the day with light refreshments before getting into the swing with a morning competition of 9 holes.
Despite the wet weather of recent weeks, the day started promisingly bright and Boulting Group's Dave Friar took victory in the morning competition after playing a superb 9 holes and finishing with a score of 20 points.
1:30pm saw the start of the afternoon session with 37 golfers battling it out over a decidedly challenging 18 holes. Conditions remained bright and sunny as the teams of four teed off at 10 minute intervals competing for prizes which included best team, best client, nearest the pin and longest drive, amongst others.
After rounding the day off with dinner at the Clubhouse, prizes were awarded by John Tamlin, formerly of Boulting Group, with the Team Competition prize going to Jon Waring (Boulting Group), John Tamlin (Boulting Group), Phil Crook (KMI) Mike Horan (General Welding).
In the Clients' Competition, Siemens' Dave Kelly took 1st place while in the Suppliers' Competition, Halycon Drive's Chris Davis Horan reigned supreme. Finally, Colin Aspinall took home the Best Boulting Player. Once again we would like to thank all those took part in what proved to be a great day of golf and we're sure next year's event will be an even bigger success.
