|Project:||Alderley Park Energy Centre|
The development of a single Energy Centre provides the entire Alderley park site with a modern, efficient, reliable and environmental source of high pressure hot water, steam and compressed air. The provision meets the clients exacting needs of the pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, ensuring critical functions are reliably served
The three new steam boilers have been commissioned to run on both natural gas and fuel oil meeting strict Environment Agency emissions standards. By incorporating energy efficient burners with heat recovery systems on the exhaust flue gases, a more sustainable system has been commissioned.
We were responsible for the thermal, stress and structural design elements along with the electrical load, cabling, routing and Motor control centre. In addition to producing specifications for instrumentation, the team designed the URS, FDS, system characterisation alongside PLC and SCADA for full process control.
Manufacture of the pipework, structural steelwork and MCCs, was undertaken in our workshops and manufacturing facilities. The specification, procurement and installation of the boilers, softened water and hotwell tanks, heat recovery equipment, pumps and compressed air system drew on the expertise of the Boulting team. An oil system, ancillary equipment and control systems were also installed.
We undertook project management for a smooth implementation. There was no disruption to on-going site operations from the numerous services break-ins and tie-ins, ensuring critical processes were unhindered. Prior to hand over, a commissioning process was managed by the Boulting team and training was given to operatives. The project boasts an excellent safety record.
