After the fundraising success of 2012 Warrington based Boulting has announced Long Lane Garden Centre as their charity for 2013.
In previous years, employees of the engineering solutions company have raised money through a variety of activities including 5 a-side football matches, sponsored walks/runs/bike rides, cake sales and dress-down days.
The target for this year is to raise £2,000 for Long Lane Garden Centre and the Boulting team are already 50% there.
Part of the Walton Lea Project, which utilises horticulture to help the community, Long Lane Garden Centre started just over 4 years ago with just enough money for 1 month's rent. It has now established itself as a successful charity helping adults with learning difficulties and mental health problems.
It caters for up to 20 people a day, referred by social services, and offers a wide variety of jobs ranging from gardening to shop work, giving those who cannot work the opportunity to experience a day's labour.
The charity was nominated for support by Boulting's Phil Henshaw. Phil commented, "I first went to the garden centre over 3 years ago and I was moved by the lack of facilities and amenities for the work experience clients and support staff. After meeting the management, I was touched by their dedication and patience to make improvements and have supported the charity ever since.
I am thrilled that my Boulting colleagues have selected Long Lane as this year's nominated charity and I know that their efforts will be truly appreciated."
Boulting have a proud tradition of helping local charities and their employees do a fantastic job taking part and raising money.
Last year Boulting's personnel raised £1,500 for the charity JUMP, which the company then doubled to reach a grand total of £3,000. Similarly, in 2010, Warrington General Hospital benefited from over £4,000 raised through the efforts of the Boulting staff.
