Somewhere to go, something to do, someone to talk to – this is the mission statement of Wirral Youth Zone, which has officially opened The Hive, a new £6m million youth activity centre. Boulting is one of 22 founder patrons which has pledged £75,000 over the next three years to fund the state-of-the-art centre.
Boulting has supported Wirral Youth Zone for a number of years, contributing through an engagement and investment programme, which includes financial contributions and career development opportunities.
The programme is continuing to provide support to The Hive, a purpose-built facility in the centre of Birkenhead. With facilities including a gym, rock climbing wall, music production suite and jewellery making workshops, it is has attracted the interest of over 4,700 young people.
Boulting, alongside 100 other supporters, including founding members, youth work professionals and the local community, attended a patron’s open day to officially open the centre. In addition to the opportunity to see the facilities first hand, Boulting was presented with a plaque for its continued support of Wirral Youth Zone and its donation to The Hive.
“The Hive is the perfect place for young people in the Wirral to develop relationships and learn a wide range of new skills, allowing them to give back to the local community,” explained Lucy Speed, human resources advisor at Boulting.
“It’s an honour for Boulting to be a founding member of such an incredible project. It is easy to see how much this new facility means to the young people that we met at the open day,” added Speed.
“The Hive is hugely thankful for Boulting’s support. We are already witnessing a positive impact in the young people and the local community in what is the first facility of its kind in Merseyside,” explained Stuart Barnes, chief executive of The Hive.
“Founder patron support such as Boulting’s, is crucial for the sustainability of the Youth Zone and this will give the young people of Wirral a safe and inspiring place to spend their leisure time.”
