New contract wins for Boulting Electrical and Instrumentation

Arla Foods

Arla Foods UK plc is home to some of the UK's leading dairy brands including Cravendale, Lurpak and Anchor Butter. Processing approximately two billion litres of milk a year Arla continues to be one of the UK's leading dairy companies and a supplier of fresh liquid milk and cream to the top seven retailers.

Project Title: Project Olympic

Duration: Sept-Dec 2011

Boulting E&I have been awarded the Process Electrical Installation contract for a new product facility at Arla Foods, Stourton. The new facility is to support the growth of existing dairy products and ensure Arla meet the needs of their customers and the E&I team will working to tight deadlines as installation must be complete prior to Christmas 2011

Boulting will be required to install the power, control cabling and pneumatic tubing to:

  • 50 Motors
  • 150 Profibus PA Instrument
  • 350 ASI Actuated Control Valves (Numbers approximations)

The detailed design includes stainless steel cable containment systems, with pitched roof cable trunking systems, dairy pipes and stainless steel wire baskets used to carry installations.

KMI Plus has extensive experience within the water and waste water sector working with United Utilities to deliver design, construction and final commissioning services on its investment programme to improve the water and wastewater networks.

Project Title: Blackburn WwTW (site upgrade)

Duration: Sept 2011 - July 2012

Value: £320K

The purpose of the site upgrade is to improve the quality of the final effluent through disinfection prior to discharge of the works.

Scope of works includes:

Final effluent UV disinfection plant with 3 channels and 9 banks of lamps

  • UV control building
  • Automatic UV chemical cleaning system, including chemical storage tank
  • Standby 500kVA generator with bulk fuel storage
  • HV cable diversions
  • 11kV ring main unit / substation
  • 500kVA ONAN transformer
  • LV power, control and instrumentation installations
  • Building services

KMI Plus

Project Title: Croston WwTW (site upgrade)

Duration: Oct 2011 - Jun 2012

Value: £290K

The purpose of the site upgrade is to provide additional storm storage and tertiary disinfection treatment to allow the works to meet its consents.

Scope of works includes:

  • UV treatment comprising of twin UV channels each with 3 UV banks in series
  • UV control building
  • UV Feed Pumping Station
  • Additional storm storage facility
  • Power supply upgrade to site
  • Standby 60kVA generator with bulk fuel storage
  • LV power, control and instrumentation installations
  • Building services
